This thrilling tour offers us a large variety of landscapes and road surfaces, from volcanic landscapes to oceans of sand and basalt, as it leads us through the Middle Atlas, the High Atlas and the Anti-Atlas Mountain Range. The contrasting colours and overall sensations are absolutely breathtaking.
Day 1: Flight to Africa - For our first day in Africa, the hotel offers half-pension board. Our first briefing will take place in the evening, according to the different flight schedules.
Day 2: Fès - Midelt - We will start our trip at a leisurely pace as we zigzag between cacti and olive trees. Lunch will be taken in a restaurant in the surprising quaint little town of Ifrane. Later, we will enjoy riding on a carpet of needles and in the shade offered to us by the cedar trees as we head further into the mountains. This is the home of the Macaque monkeys, which have inhabited these forests for a very long period of time. Our track will take us around hundreds of volcanic lakes as it follows the rim of the grassy hills, to the town of Midelt, located at the foot of the Atlas Mountains. Overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 3: Midelt - Atchana - A tiny track zigzags between the mountains, following, at times, a dry river bed which meanders around the peaks. We will set up camp in Djebel Khang-el-Ghar.
Day 4: Atchana - Dar Kaoua - As we drive out of the canyon, we catch our first glimpse of the seemingly infinite desert, which spreads out to the horizon. The heat of sun is scorching. We will spend the night in a remote Kasbah or fortress and enjoy the atmosphere reminiscent of the tale of One thousand and One nights. The majestic dunes of Erg Chebbi are close at hand.
Day 5: Dar Kaoua - surroundings of Tazzarine - Landmarks have become rare as the black mountains give way to an ocean of sand. The track surfs the sand waves for dozens of kilometres. We will set up camp close to the Algerian border.
Day 6: Tazzarine - Tinerghir - Between black rocks and lava flows, the track slowly climbs towards Djebel Sarhro, the oldest mountain range in the country, just after Tizi-n'Tazazert - peaking at 2200 m. The lunar atmosphere surrounding us is absolutely stunning! After Iknioun, a marvellously sandy track cuts through the plain to join Todra Canyon in the evening. We will spend the night at the Amazir hotel, located in a charming and very lively oasis.
Day 7: Tinerghir - Ait-Tamlil - After we have driven past the Dadès canyons, we will continue along a majestic dark red gorge until we reach Bou Tharar. The track will then lead us to the High Atlas, reaching the Ighil M'Goun Mountain formation at 4071 m. Later, the track plunges down to the Toufrine valley and its century-old nut trees. After a few exciting ford crossings, we will set up camp and enjoy the view offered to us by the valley at our feet.
Day 8: Ait-Tamlil - Marrakech - The seemingly never-ending narrow bike track meanders its way along the riverbed all the way to the Aït Aadel dam. From here, we will follow the canal to the Issil's Gardens hotel, a gem located just a few kilometres away from the very centre of Marrakech.
