These wild open spaces are characterized by nature's powers and excesses, invincibility and invisible forces. It's a journey out of time through a mythical country. Carried by the wind, the traveller is captivated by the purity of the surrounding nature.
Day 1: Flight between Europe and Asia - Landing in Oulan-Bator. This first night will be spent in the Bayangol hotel.
Day 2: Oulan-Bator - Khishig Undur - 270 km - As we enjoy our breakfast and consider the upcoming ride, our minds and imaginations are set in motion. And, as we prepare our bikes, we can hardly wait to be on the road. Fortunately, as soon as we leave the city, we are already surrounded by beautiful prairies. The first hundred kilometres will be taken slowly, however, since the asphalt road we are following is in dire need of repair and can be quite tricky. The surrounding plains seem even more welcoming but beware of the many treacherous ravines! Stopover in tents.
Day 3: Khishig Undur - Ulziit- 200 km - We now drive into the province of Arkhangaï, where mountains slowly take over the plains. The altitude rises as the landscape gets rougher. Stopover in tents.
Day 4: Ilziit - Khorgo - 275 km - A line of volcanoes, some of which rise over 2000 meters, announce the upcoming National Park of Khorgo. The village is located in the Khangaï Mountains. The track zigzags around lava streams, follows the crystal clear river and leads us finally to the yurt village, where we will spend a dream night on the very edge of the big white lake. From the top of the nearby mountain, the panorama is stunning. Stopover in yurts (portable, felt-covered, wood lattice-framed dwelling structure traditionally used by nomads in the steppes of Central Asia).
Day 5: Khorgo - Tsenkeriin - 280 km - It's still dawn and the birds are singing. The wooden chimneys of our yurts continue to smoke slowly. The surrounding landscape is absolutely stunning. Breakfast will probably be taking in silence, as we enjoy the beauty of our natural surroundings. Today, our track will take us between mountains and through prairies and will delight us with a few exciting river crossings. Stopover in yurts.
Day 6: Tsenkeriin - A day to relax and to enjoy one of the many excursions in the surroundings - 60 km - This day will be used to check the vehicles and the gear, to rest and relax and to take a look around us. The yak breeders will challenge us to a few friendly races on their horses. Hot springs gush out of the ground behind our yurts. In the evening chill, we can see the tubs steaming; after dinner, we will enjoy a pleasurable hot relaxing bath. Stopover in yurts.
Day 7: Tsenkeriin - Kharakorum - 210 km - We will drive to the ancient capital of Genghis Khan's empire. Stopover in yurts.
Day 8: Kharakorum - Zagal - 120 km - The Orkhon valley breaks into deep canyons. Our bike track will follow this roaring river. Stopover in yurts.
Day 9: Zagal - Oulan-Bator - 280 km - The capital city of Oulan-Bator suddenly appears behind one last hill. Stopover in the Bayangol hotel.
Day 10: Flight between Asia and Europe.
